ClickZ.com had the report yesterday: Community standards at Clear Channel radio station web sites leave something to be desired. The creeping crud of shock-jock culture washing onto the web is news to some, but it is also burying the lede.

The Obama campaign and the DNC embarked on a massive new voter registration effort using web display. It’s a strong idea and the craptastic content on some of the targeted web properties doesn’t change that. One can only hope this is being relaunched and soon. Do we really need to endure another post-election navel gaze on why politics was slow to adapt to the Madison Avenue metric of web advertising?

The cameras will be rolling this Saturday just as they were the last time he visited the Old State Capitol to make an announcement. That footage was eventually used in a web ad on USAtoday.com almost a year ago. Who’s going to be beside him this weekend?

McCain ups online fundraising ask to $50

The ads were first detected August 13. Never a strong user of online display to ask for specific donation amounts in the past, his new ads ask for $50. McCain started off asking for $25.

Fundraising totals reported this weekend for both candidates show Obama outraised McCain $51 milion to $27 million in July.
